824,702. Preserving blood, semen, tissues etc.; ampoules; artificial insemination. UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION. April 9, 1957 [April 26, 1956], No. 11577/57. Classes 49, 81 (1) and 81 (2). [Also in Group XIII] Articles, such as samples of blood, pharmaceuticals, enzymes, semen or living tissues, are stored in liquid nitrogen in a thermallyinsulated container (see Group XIII), on supports which are movable so that the sample can be moved to or from a position accessible from the mouth of the container. As shown, polyethylene ampoules 93 of bull semen are each formed with jaws 98, Fig. 8 (not shown) which clip on to a vertical tube or rod 73 of round, rectangular or polygonal section. Each ampoule is filled and sealed at it nose 94a and, for use, an insemination tube is pierced through a wall 95a and the ampoule squeezed. The ampoule may be made of glass. The tubes or rods 73 may be slidably mounted in channels fixed to rings of support frames, Fig. 6 (not shown), suspended in the container, Fig. 1 (not shown). Other supports for the tubes or rods are referred to, including hollow cylinders, Figs. 11-13 (not shown), with apertures near a closed bottom and with vertical partitions.
