Abstract

<PICT:0890984/III/1> Biologicals such as vaccines are preserved in stoppered glass containers in which at least the juncture of the stopper and container has a coating of normally crystalline vinylidene chloride polymer to exclude atmospheric penetration. The container may enclose a high vacuum. The stopper 16 may be of plastic or elastomeric and shaped to facilitate introduction of a syringe needle. A metal ring 14 may be rolled to engage the container and stopper and the entire closure given a coating 18 by dipping &c. Alternatively, the container may be coated in its entirety, providing additionally a measure of protection against shattering if the container is dropped.
