Abstract

824,675. Turbines. UNITED AIRCRAFT CORPORATION. July 26, 1956 [July 26, 1955], No. 23199/56. Class 110 (3). [Also in Group XXXIV] Moving parts within a hollow are lubricated by directing a stream of lubricant from outside the shaft through holes in the shaft as it rotates. A hollow shaft 2 is driven by a gas-turbine shaft 4 to drive a pump 80 and another auxiliary 6, the latter being driven through splines 12, 14. Lubricant is squirted from a nozzle 84 through apertures 90 in the shaft 2 as it rotates. This lubricant flows through holes 100 and is centrifuged into a reservoir 104, from which it flows to the splines. Specification 624,970, [Group XXXIV], is referred to.
