Abstract

In a process for the preparation of compounds of the general formula <FORM:0824458/IV (b)/1> or acid addition salts thereof, wherein Alk is a straight or branched alkylene chain, R1 and R2 are alkyl radicals, which may be linked to form a ring, which ring may also contain a further hetero atom, or R1 and/or R2, together with the nitrogen atom and the radical Alk may form a heterocyclic ring system, compounds of the general formula <FORM:0824458/IV (b)/2> wherein X is oxygen or sulphur are heated to an elevated temperature, preferably 150-250 DEG C., carbon dioxide or carbon oxysulphide being split off, and, if desired, the product is converted into an acid addition salt. Examples describe the preparation of dimethylaminoethyl-, diethylaminoisopropyl-, diethylaminoethyl-, and piperidinoethylthiophenylpyridylamines and their hydrochlorides. Specification 817,558 also is referred to.
