Abstract

824,414. Rotary conveyers; sorting letters. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. April 18, 1958 [April 18, 1957], No. 12378/58. Class 78 (1). Letters, which have been provided with destination indications in a coding device, pass individually down a shoot G into receptacles C carried by a rotary table B. As a letter enters a receptacle its destination is transmitted to it. When the rotation of the table B brings a receptacle into position above a shoot H leading to a container E corresponding to the destination of the letter in the receptacle, the latter is opened automatically and the letter slides down the shoot into the container. The containers E are mounted on a rotary table D which rotates oppositely to the table B. If a receptacle is not emptied during the rotation of the table B, as it approaches the shoot G it is displaced radially outwards and its contents are discharged automatically into a shoot K leading to a stationary container F.
