Abstract

Cellulosic textiles are printed by locally applying an aqueous paste containing a mono-or poly-azo dyestuff containing at least one ionogenic solubilizing group and at least once a primary or secondary amino group carrying as N-substituent a 1 : 3 : 5-triazine radical containing at least one halogen atom attached to a carbon atom of the triazine ring, then applying, in a separate step, an aqueous solution of an acid-binding agent, and finally drying before washing to remove unfixed dyestuff. The acid-binding agents are those described in the parent Specification. Drying may be effected in air or by passing the textile over heated cylinders or through a molten metal bath. A drying step may also be effected between the two treatments. The aqueous solution may contain inorganic salts such as sodium chloride or sulphate. Numerous dyestuffs are specified and examples are given.
