Abstract
823,905. Induction furnaces. NORDISKA ARMATURFABRIKERNA A. B. Dec. 19, 1957 [Dec. 19, 1956], No. 39481/57. Class 39(3) After a coil 3 for an induction heating furnace has been wound elsewhere than in the furnace, mica spacers 5 are inserted between the convolutions and a holder for compressing the coil longitudinally is placed in position. The holder consists of two rings 11, 12, through which pass the ends of rods 13 threaded to receive nuts 14, L-shaped fingers 15 being secured to the ring 12, and fingers 16 releasably engaging the ring 11. The coil is then compressed by tightening the nuts 14, electrically insulating composition is applied to the surface of the coil and the coil placed in a drying oven to harden the composition. In mounting the coil in a furnace, Fig. 1 (not shown), the crucible is removed and the holder-coil assembly is introduced into the furnace body. Pressure members provided on the furnace shell are then engaged with the top of the coil and the holder dismantled and removed from the furnace.
