A sealing ring assembly of the kind comprising two co-operating members 21, 29, Fig. 1, with coacting faces to form an annular recess to take a resilient 0-ring 34, has at least one of the members parted radially and the 0-ring also parted at the same point, the ends of the 0-ring being formed with lateral extensions lying transversely of the circumferential direction of the 0-ring and arranged for mutual abutment within the radial division of the member. The assembly seals the space between an outer member 22 and the floating sealing ring 21 of a turbine, the ring 21 having an annular sealing face 23 which is supplied with lubricant from a groove 50 in the sealing ring 29 by passages 24, 26. The annular oil channels 25, 50 are sealed by the 0-rings 34 which lie in grooves formed on the inner, outer, or both cylindrical surfaces of the ring 29, which itself may be built up of two ring sections arranged side by side. The sealing ring assembly is capable of being introduced transversely into position around the turbine shaft 11 by dividing the ring 29 into two or more parts as shown in Figs. 2, 7, 8. In an embodiment having an internal 0-ring 34, Fig. 7, side extensions 40 are formed on the 0-ring which carries further extensions in a circumferential direction to engage with recesses formed in the opposed radial faces of the ring 29. Figs. 2 and 8 show alternative methods of securing the 0-ring ends by forming hook-like extensions 38 which engage holes 36 in the radial faces of the ring 29. In a further modification, Fig. 6, not shown, the 0-ring has only one radial joint.
