Abstract
The invention comprises pyridazine and phthalazine derivatives of the general formula <FORM:0823078/IV (a)/1> wherein R represents the vinylene radical or an o-phenylene radical which may be substituted by halogen and/or nitro groups, and X represents oxygen or sulphur. The novel compounds may be produced by reacting trichloromethane sulphenyl chloride with a hydroxy or mercapto pyridazine of the formula <FORM:0823078/IV (a)/2> where R and X are as above. Reactions of hydroxy pyridazine derivatives are performed in the presence of an acid binding agent, e.g. in a two-phase system comprising a diluted alkali lye and a water immiscible organic solvent, or alkali salts of hydroxypyridazine derivatives may be used suspended in organic solvents. Mercaptopyridazine derivatives react in the absence of acid binding agents. The new compounds are useful in fungicidal compositions (see Group VI).ALSO:Fungicidal compositions comprise pyridazine or phthalazine derivatives of the general formula <FORM:0823078/VI/1> wherein R represents the vinylene radical or an orthophenylene radical which may be substituted by halogen and/or nitro groups, and X represents oxygen or sulphur (for preparation see Group IV (b)), in a finely distributable form, in combination with carriers and distributing agents. The active ingredients may be combined p with solid pulverulent carriers or wetting or dispersing agents, suspended in water with the aid of capillary active substances, emulsified in water after dissolving in organic solvents with emulsifiers, dissolved in organic solvents, or distributed in the air in the form of aerosols, smoke or mist.
