Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:0991590/C2/1> where X is trifluoromethyl or chlorine. They are prepared by reacting dimethylphosphinothionyl chloride or bromide with 3-tri-fluoromethyl- or 3-chlorophenol in the presence of an acid acceptor. A solvent may be used. They are insecticides (see Division A5).ALSO:Insecticidal compositions comprise a phosphinothionate ester of formula <FORM:0991590/A5-A6/1> where X is trifluoromethyl or chlorine, together with a surface active agent or carrier or both. The composition may be in the form of a dust, wettable powder, solution in an organic solvent, emulsifiable concentrate, aqueous dispersion or emulsion or an aerosol. A knock-down agent may be included.
