823,004. Stud and socket fastenings; spring clips. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Oct. 31, 1957 [Nov. 2, 1956], No. 34085/57. Class 44 A fastening device for securing a panel 12 to an apertured support 14 comprises a pair of opposed legs 22, 24 for engaging the panel 12 and a snap fastener stud member extending from one of the legs for engagement in an aperture 16 in the support 14, the stud member comprising a pair of relatively yieldable legs 28, 30 disposed in vertical relationship to each other the upper 28 of said legs being transversely curved to provide an outer surface of convex shape with its longitudinal side edges extending laterally beyond the longitudinal side edges of the lower leg 30. To engage the surfaces of the support 14 the upper leg 28 is provided with an embossed shoulder 34 and the lower leg is provided with a bent end 36 which provides a snap shoulder 38. The leg 22 is provided with tabs 40 and 42 (not shown) for engagement with the panel 12. The convex shape of the leg 28 allows any water to drip from the side edges and prevents it draining towards the panel 12.
