Abstract

822,806. Spring wheels. GOETZEWERKE F. GOETZE A.G. Oct. 6, 1955 [Oct. 28, 1954], No. 28511/55. Class 144 (1). In a spring wheel wherein the rim is supported on a hub through the medium of two series-connected concentric rubber rings on each side of the plane of symmetry of the wheel, each ring being of greater axial width than radial thickness, lateral stability is provided by guide means which relieves at least one of the rings on each side of the wheel from axial stresses. As shown in Fig. 1, the guide means comprises annular radial discs 7 extending inwardly from the rim between annular radial discs 8 projecting from the hub 1. The larger diameter pair of rubber rings 4, 4<SP>1</SP> are connected at their axially outer ends to rings 6 attached to the rim 2 and at their inner ends to intermediate support-rings 5, 5<SP>1</SP> to which the axially outer ends of the smaller diameter pair of rubber rings 3, 3<SP>1</SP> are also connected. The rings 3, 31 have their inner ends connected to the hub discs 8 and are radially thicker than the rings 4, 41. To limit deformation of the larger rings 4, 41, buffers 9, 91 are mounted on the outer peripheries of the rings 5, 5<SP>1</SP>. Fig. 2 shows an alternative arrangement wherein the guiding means comprises a floating annular disc 16 to which the intermediate support rings 15, 151 are bolted and which is guided between projecting hub discs 10. In this case the rim 11 is permitted high-frequency oscillations which are absorbed by the larger diameter rings 12, 121.
