Abstract
796,113. Cushion tyres. UP-RIGHT, Inc. Feb. 24, 1956, No. 5840/56. Class 144 (2). A cushion tyre 11 comprises two spaced concentric rings 13, 15, at least the outer ring 15 of which is of deformable resilient rubber-like material, connected together by a plurality of equi-spaced radial rubber-like spokes 17, each of radial length at least three times the minimum circumferential width, the spokes each having a straight and a concave transverse face and being disposed with the concave faces in the same circumferential direction so that the buckling of the spokes under radial load occurs always in a predetermined direction. As shown, the inner ring 13 is of rubber-like material and is mounted on a rigid wheel hub or disc 9.
