Abstract

821,471. Dough-sheeting machines. VICARS Ltd. T. & T., and NAYLOR, J. F. Jan. 10 1958 [Jan. 18, 1957], No. 1858/57. Class 87(2). A dough - sheeting machine comprises a beating roller E cooperating with a driven feed roller C to draw dough from a hopper A, and an anvil I, the spacings between the beating roller E and both the feed roller C and anvil I being continuously variable. The beating roller E moves in an oval or "egg shaped" path as seen in Fig. 3 (not shown). The feed roller C is adjustably mounted to vary the distance between it and the beating roller E and has a visual indication device to show that distance, and may have transverse peripheral ribs. The anvil I comprises a travelling belt B supported on a roller, having end flanges K to control the width of the dough sheet, located under the beating roller E and the speed of the belt B relative to the feed roller C is variable. The beating roller E is mounted on blocks F adjustably supported on rods G to vary the distance between the roller E and the anvil I, the rods G passing through pivoted blocks J and connecting with a rotable eccentric H which, on rotation, imparts the oval motion to the beating roller E. In operation, dough from the hopper A is deposited as a sheet by the rollers C, E onto the travelling band B and, on passing beneath the roller E is beaten and consolidated by its vertical reciprocation.
