A conveyer system in which load carrying trolleys are propelled along a track 12 by pusher dogs 22 supported by a driving-chain running on a track 10 and engaging a driving abutment bar 17 on each trolley and in which means are provided to arrest a trolley in one of a series of positions at locations along the track by pivoting the driving dog to an inoperative position disengaging the bar 17 by the dog striking a cam 38 on a master disengaging element 31a mounted on sections of a spindle 34 the trolley striking the forward-chamfered edge of an L-shaped actuating member 32 mounted on the sections of the spindle rotating the member and a section of the spindle carrying the next disengaging element 31b pivoting the element to operative position where the cam 38 arrests the next trolley which strikes and pivots an actuating member 32 rotating the next. section of the spindle and the disengaging member 31c mounted thereon to operative position to arrest the next trolley, has means for retaining an arrested trolley and for preventing inadvertent movement such as may occur on a decline until a driving dog drives it. The means comprise a retaining member 54 pivoted to the track 10 on the side opposite to the disengaging element, the member having an abutment 62 which normally is in position to engage a bar 17 of an arrested trolley. The abutment is disengaged by the plates 20 of the driving dog 22 contacting the cammed face of the limb 58 of the member, causing the member 54 to pivot and release the abutment 62 from the bar 17.
