Abstract

821,034. Gas purifiers. PANI, P. April 16, 1956 [June 15, 1955 ; Oct. 18, 1955], No. 11470/56. Class 55 (2). A tower purifier comprises a number of superposed units adapted to contain one or two layers of purifying material and having two conduits forming inlets and outlets for the gases passing through the purifier, a rubber or like joint 24 (Fig. 9), being provided between the shells of adjacent units and at least one of the conduits being provided with a joint capable of vertical adjustment to seal with the corresponding conduit of an adjacent unit. The joint capable of vertical adjustment may be hydraulic as shown in Fig. 5, each hydraulic seal being provided with a water overflow 18 so that water fed by pipe 34 to the upper seal flows from seal to seal down the tower. In a modification, Fig. 6, the joint comprises a rubber ring 27 which fits over one conduit and has its periphery sealing with the interior of a conduit of an adjacent unit as shown.
