Abstract
787,639. Gas-producers. POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT), Ltd. Aug. 31, 1955 [Aug. 31, 1954], No. 25236/54. Class 55 (1). [Also in Group XXVI] A gas producer 1 has two ducts 2 and 3 which are used alternately as a gas inlet and a gas outlet and each of which is fed with solid fuel from a hopper 4 forming therein columns of fuel 5 and 6 which serve alternately to preheat all the gasefication air and to cool the outgoing gas, a rotary valve 11 driven by a motor 12 serving to reverse at suitable intervals the direction of the flow of gas through the producer. Water is supplied through either pipe 15 or 16 to the column of fuel through which the outgoing gas is passing. Incoming air may be preheated to 800‹ C. and the outgoing gas may be cooled to 100‹ C., additional regenerators 19, 20 may be provided in the inlet and outlet gas lines. As shown in the drawing, the gasproducer is embodied in a gas turbine plant (see Group XXVI). Specification 720,598 is referred to.
