820,188. Circlips. CROSS MANUFACTURING CO. (1938) Ltd. March 18, 1958 [June 12, 1957], No. 18530/57. Class 89(2) A machine-part-assembly comprises a part 1, Fig. 1, e.g. a piston, with a bore 2, and a part 3, e.g. a gudgeon-pin, in the bore, the parts being located against relative-axial-movement in one direction by a split spring-ring 6 applied to a groove in part 3 through a slot 7, without radialexpansion or contraction of the ring. Part 1 shrouds the ring and prevents its removal by expansion. In a modification, a ring 6a, Fig. 4 is housed in a groove 5a in part 1. which has a slot 7a. Part 3 shrouds the ring and prevents its removal by contraction. Specifications 702,465 and 806,628 are referred to.
