Abstract

820,013. Electromechanical wave filters. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Oct. 24, 1956 [Oct. 25,1955],no. 32436/56. Class 40 (8). An electromechanical wave filter comprises two toroidal cores 10, 12 of magnetostrictive material, e.g. nickel or ferrite, each carrying an independent winding 11, 13 respectively, and a mechanical link 14 interconnecting the cores so that vibrations in a radial mode induced in core 10 are imparted axially through the link to the core 12 to produce vibrations in a radial mode therein. The shape of the toroids provides a suitable closed magnetic circuit and they may be operated using remanent flux for bias. The mechanical link may comprise a multisection mechanical filter, Fig. 2 (not shown).
