Abstract
817,441. Printing surfaces. WAITE & SAVILLE Ltd., and WHYTE, F. July 13, 1955 [May 12, 1954], No. 13812/54. Class 100(2) Attaching and registration means for plates on printing cylinders or flat bed surfaces of printing machines comprises clamps which are first secured to the ends of the plate and then connected to the plate cylinder or flat bed surface by adjustable hook members which in addition to enabling the plate to be tautened permit it to be adjusted axially and circumferentially at either or both sides of the plate cylinder or along and across at either or both sides of the flat bed, measuring scales being provided to indicate the adjustments made. As shown hook members 1 are provided in the gap 2 of the cylinder 3 so as to engage clamps 4 to which each end of .the plate 5 is attached. Spring clips 6 are provided to hold the clamp 4 in position until the plate has been drawn around the, cylinder. The hook members 1 at the leading edge 8 of the plate are carried on a bar 9 which is adjustable axially of the cylinder by adjusting screws. A pointer and measuring scale are provided for indicating the amount of adjustment. The members 1 are also individually adjustable in the bar 9 circumferentially of the cylinder by screws 12 and further scales are provided for measuring the amount of circumferential adjustment.
