Abstract
Fibres composed of polyamides or polyethylene terephthalate are treated with a condensation product, liquid below 30 DEG C., of from one to three mols. of a fatty acid with one mol. of glycerine previously condensed with from three to forty mols. of ethylene oxide. The condensation product may be applied by spraying or by impregnation in aqueous or organic solution at normal or elevated temperature and the treated fibres, which may be in the form of yarns, fabrics or staple, may be dried at from room temperature up to 150 DEG C. In the example, the fatty acids used are lauric, oleic and stearic acids. The Provisional Specification also describes the treatment of cellulose acetate materials.
