Abstract

817,328. Discharge from hoppers. HARVENGT, E. Sept. 14, 1955 [Sept. 15, 1954], No. 26355/55. Class 78 (1). A discharge device (Fig. 1) for discharging wet materials from hopper 20 comprises a pocketed drum 3 which is furnished with end sealing members 29 to prevent escape of fluid, the pressure on said seals being adjustable by means of ring 31 to allow for wear. The seals may be double seals and additional seals may be positioned on the end faces of the drum. Fig. 8. In an application to a grading and separating device, the material falls into compartments 44, 47 against streams of water flowing in from 45, 48 and is discharged by the above-described drum 3, counterweighted shutters 12, 13 bearing against the drum periphery. Wear occurring in members 52, 54 is compensated by adjustment at 61.
