Abstract

1,233,487. Liquid seals. KLOCKNERHUMBOLDT-DEUTZ A.G. 6 Oct., 1969 [4 Oct., 1968], No. 49053/69. Heading F2B. A gap between a fixed and a vibratory part, e.g. the inlet or outlet 3 of a vibratory conveyer 1, for conveying hot loose material, is sealed by a collar 4 secured to the vibratory part and having peripheral flanges 6, 6<SP>1</SP> dipping into a trough 8 filled with liquid 7 and connected to a stationary frame 9. The direction of the vibration is indicated by the arrow 5 and the flanges 6 slope in the same direction while the flanges 6<SP>1</SP> are vertical. The flanges have knife edges dipping into the liquid to eliminate turbulence. The trough 8 may have a level control to regulate the flow through an inlet or outlet 11 and has a sump 12 with a drain 13.
