Abstract

817,095. Bedsteads; cots. EVERED & CO. Ltd. May 14, 1956 [May 14, 1955], No. 13988/55. Class 52(2) A child's bed or cot, convertible to be suitable for an adult, has a side barrier which can be removed or lowered and which has rails 18 and bars 19 slidably mounted on guide members 20, and an end barrier 27 which can be lowered to form an extension of the mattress support. As shown, the bedstead has upper and lower tiers 10, 11 and a length of tube 15 forming a ladder. Rails 18 terminate in apertured lugs 22, 23 through which pass guides 20 the aperture of lug 22 being a slot 23 so the barrier can be moved inwardly or outwardly to engage a pin 24 with a socket 25 in upper bracket 21, the lower bracket supporting a rubber buffer 26. The side barrier may be detached from the bedstead by releasing the screws securing brackets 21 to corner posts 12 or releasing the nuts securing guides 20 to the brackets. End barriers 27 each consisting of a U-shaped tube 28 secured to a tube 29 mounted on a crossbar 31 and a panel 32 have articulated stays 33 and releasable fastenings consisting of pins 35 on the corner parts engaging a hole in tubes 28.
