Abstract

815,663. Bedsteads, bracket tables. HAUG, S. Feb. 14, 1958 [Dec. 4, 1956], No. 37001/56. Classes 52(2) and 52(5) The headboard 1 and footboard 5 of a divan bed each comprise a vertical panel 2 connected by a hinge 10 to a horizontal panel 3 which lies beneath the mattress 4, tapes 11 maintaining the panels at right angles, and adjustable tapes 6 fitted with hooks 7 engaging openings 8 in panels 3 interconnect the head and footboards to urge them against the ends of the mattress. In a modification (not illustrated) tapes 6 are replaced by rubber strips or tension springs. If desired a footboard alone may be fitted to a bed with existing head, the tapes &c. being engaged with eyebolts and the headboard or other convenient part of the bed. A folding bedside table 17 may be attached to the headboard by means of a hinged anchoring plate 18 formed with a hook 19 to engage a pin 20 bridging a recess 21 in the edge of panel 2. In a modification the plate 18 has hinge pins to engage sockets on the panel 2.
