Abstract

637,951. Bedsteads. HOSKINS & SEWELL, Ltd., and HOSKINS, H. R. June 7, 1948, No. 15286. [Class 52 (ii)] In a bedstead or cot provided with a drop side the drop side is constructed with parts which are relatively slidable or collapsable to reduce the depth thereof when the side is lowered. As shown the drop side comprises upper and lower rails a. b interconnected by vertical telescopic members which consist of outer tubes e and inner rods or tubes f. Two of the members are arranged with the tubes e secured to the lower rail b and provided with bushes i which together with sleeves carried by the rods f form stops to limit the extension of the telescopic members. Hooks g embrace the tubes e, and when the side is lowered, engage the bushes i after which pressure on the top rail a depresses the latter to approximately the level of the mattress frame h. The upper rail a may be secured, when the drop side is raised, by supports c of any desired form.
