875,090. Sofa beds. HEUMANN, J. M., and HEUMANN, S. M., [trading as METROPOLITAN FURNITURE MANUFACTURING CO.]. Sept. 10, 1959 [Dec. 22, 1958], No. 30896/59. Class 52(2). A sofa bed comprises a fixed bottom bed frame 27 with a second bed frame mounted on telescoping slides 44 by hinges 57 to the fixed frame. On one bed member are cams 62 engaging rollers 63 in the other member to tilt the surface of the sofa and disengaging on extension to provide a horizontal surface to form a bed. Mattress 24 is fastened to the movable bed member and mattress 23 is used on top of 24 for the sofa and on 27 for the bed, while cushions 22 can also be used as loose cushions. The legs 68 of the movable member fit into recesses in the legs 67 of the fixed member to appear as one leg unit 26 of the sofa.
