Abstract

682,090. Bedsteads. MACKAY, N. A. March 14, 1951 [Dec. 14, 1949], No. 32077/49. Class 52(ii) A bedstead is comprised of two units capable of being separated to form parts of two independent beds one unit being adapted to be superimposed, in inverted position, upon the other unit. As shown in Fig. 1 the units, which are superimposed to form one, comprise mattress frames 10 two U-shaped members 19, 20 fitted thereto by the aid of corner blocks 14 and having sockets into which spigots carried by legs 21 and member 16 engage. To form two independent beds the upper unit is removed and inverted so that the member 20 forms the support at one end, the member 16 removed and a similar member to 16 but having sockets instead of spigots fitted to the other end and engaged by legs. The other unit is then fitted with the removed member 16 which engages by means of its spigots with legs similar to legs 21 but having sockets instead of spigots.
