Abstract
Cellulosic textile materials are dyed or printed by applying an aqueous solution of a phthalocyanine dyestuff of the formula <FORM:0816925/IV (c)/1> wherein (Pc) represents a phthalocyanine radical, Y represents a direct link or a divalent bridging radical and the system (Pc)-Y-contains at least one solubilizing group, R represents hydrogen, alkyl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl, A represents chlorine or O-B, where B is a hydrocarbon radical which may be substituted and n is a whole number, and also applying before, during or after the application of the dyestuff, an aqueous solution containing up to 3 per cent by weight of an acid-binding agent such as caustic soda, caustic potash, sodium carbonate or bicarbonate, trisodium phosphate or sodium metasilicate. A subsequent heat or steam treatment may be applied. The usual adjuvants such as sodium sulphate or alginate, cellulose ethers, urea, starch and locust bean gum may be added to the dyebath or paste.
