Abstract
Steel strip containing 0.25 per cent to 3.5 per cent silicon is cold rolled to within 1 per cent to 8 per cent of final gauge, heated to a temperature above the recrystallization temperature and cooled cold rolled to final gauge, and heated for 15 minutes to 15 secs. at a temperature between 1650 DEG F. and 2100 DEG F. It is stated that the treatment results in the steel having large grains with up to 100 per cent oriented in the same direction.
