Abstract
816,699. High-voltage coils for dynamoelectric machines. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Aug. 16, 1957 [Aug. 31, 1956], No. 25910/57. Drawings to Specification. Class 35. The coils of a high-voltage machine have a low resistance coating on the insulation of the slot portions and the portions of the conductors where-they emerge from the slots and in the region where this coating ends a plurality of separate concentric layers of low resistance material are provided in the insulation, the layers being arranged stepwise so that the layer nearest the conductor extends furthest from the core, and at least the outermost layer extends within the coating. The insulation may be mica or glass fibre tape or resinous film while the coating may be colloidal graphite or acetylene black in a resin binder. The embedded layers may be aluminium or lead foil, preferably with paper backing or alternatively, fibre glass tape coated with conductive material such as silver metallic flake containing paint or graphite.
