Abstract
816,550. Separating dust from gas. BATAAFSCHE PETROLEUM MAATSCHAPPIJ, N. V., DE. Jan. 13, 1958 [Jan. 15, 1957], No. 1167/58. Class 8(2). In apparatus for separating dust from a gas stream comprising a riser 2, Fig. 1, surmounted by an inverted cup 1 serving as a deflecting member, the lower portion of the cup 1 is coaxial with the riser 2 and provides a separated dust discharge space 9 which surrounds and is separated from a substantially clean gas space 7 e.g. by a cylindrical member 3, 5. Vertical tubes 4 convey the clean gas from space 7 to atmosphere. In a modification the clean gas discharge tubes extend horizontally through the wall of the cup member and in a further modification they lead to cyclone separators. In a still further modification the separated dust is discharged down vertical tubes 89, Fig. 4, leading from a trough 90 formed by the wall of the cup 81 and an upwardly convergent frustrum of a cone 90 mounted on an inwardly projecting flange 91.
