Abstract

Each die of a gramophone disc record moulding press is made in two parts, a bolster and a platform, the bolster being made from metal having a low thermal conductivity and the platform from a metal of high thermal conductivity. Suitable metals are hardened steel and cupra-nickel respectively. The two parts are bolted together and may include sealing rings, e.g. of silicone material, between them. The platforms, which are next the records during moulding, may be formed with labyrinths for the circulation of heating or cooling fluid. A shroud may project from the surface of the lower bolster and partly surround the lower platform, leaving a suitable expansion gap.
