Abstract

881,736. Moulding gramophone records &c. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 11, 1958 [March 14, 1957], No. 7800/58. Class 87(2). In a die for moulding flat objects such as gramophone records and comprising hinged stamper members, wherein each member has a part 4 made of a material of good heat conductivity and low specific heat, and a part (1 or 2) made of poor heat conductivity, the parts 4 project beyond the parts 1, 2 so as to contact heating and cooling blocks (not shown). When the object is cooled after moulding, its edges remain soft, thereby facilitating removal of burr. Each part 4 is secured to its support 1 or 2 by a clamping ring 6, space being left for radial expansion of the part 4. The good heat conductivity material may be an aluminium or magnesium alloy, and the poor heat conductivity material may be a high-alloy steel such as nickel-chromium steel.
