A fitting 26, Fig. 3, for conducting fluid connects in fluid-tight relation a passage 27 in a housing 22 in alignment with a port 20 of a fluid operated device by shoulders 31 bearing against a seating 32 in the housing which is secured by screwing the fitting into the port 20. In Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), a piston and cylinder device has a manifold assembly to which is secured a solenoid controlled valve and is provided with ports, one being connected directly through the manifold to the valve, as in Fig. 3. The fitting 26 has a screw-threaded shank portion 28 and a hollow head portion 30 which has a hexagonal recess to receive a wrench. When engaged, the fitting will hold the manifold plate 22 in position on a cylinder head 15 and provide a passageway 29 therethrough. An annular groove 33 may be provided in the head to receive an O-ring 34 which, with another O-ring 35, provides a fluid-tight seal between cylinder head 15 and manifold plate 22. In a modification, Fig. 4, a tube 36 having a screw-threaded end 36a engages a passage 38 in a housing 40 which has an inner chamber 41. The fitting 42 allows fluid connection from the tube 36 through the housing 40 to a port 18 and has a closed head portion 44 and a screw-threaded shank 45 which engages in the port as before. The shank 45 is provided with apertures 46 which open into a central channel 47 which extends axially through the shank. When the connection is made, the head 44 bears against the housing 40 which is secured to a cap end 14 of the cylinder with the port 38 facing in any direction. O-rings 48, 50 provide fluid tightness.
