Abstract

814,704. Two-stroke engines. ATLAS COPCO A. B. Oct. 15, 1957 [Oct. 31, 1956], No. 32147/57. Class 7(2) [Also in Group XXIII] A percussion drill has a hammer piston 15 and a differential power and compressor piston 8, 9 the stroke of which is less than the distance of scavenging ports 3 and/or exhaust ports 4 from the annular compressor space 21 so that sealing ring means, e.g. a piston ring or rings 13, always provides a seal therebetween. Air is drawn into the space 21 via a valve 19 and delivered via a valve 22 and a conduit 24 to the bounce chambers 30, 26 of the piston 15 and optionally to a flushing duct of the drill 28.
