Class 20(2) A roof supporting prop yielding under load comprises an I- section upper part a sliding in two channel section members b, b, the latter encircled at the top by two stirrups c tightened by nuts and bolts d and secured to the channels by expanding sleeves or split taper pins g passing through holes in the members. At the bottom end the channels are rigidlly held in abutment by a strap e and intermediate straps i are displaceable to any position where they can be secured by inverted wedges k of wood or similar yielding material. The bottom flanges of the I-section are chamfered.
