876,872. Roof supports for mines. EICKHOFF MASCHINENFABRIK UND EISENGIESSEREI GEB. June 25, 1958 [June 29, 1957], No. 20311/58. Class 20(2) A roof support for mines has a pneumatic cushion 20 which receives the load of the roof. An advancing support comprises a sled base 1 on which is mounted an inverted trough 2 and hydraulic props comprising inner and outer parts 14, 12 damped at 15 and connected to a roof bar 16 by pins 17 in elongated slots 25 in the flange of the roof bar 16 which allow longitudinal movement. The cushion 20 is held in place by lugs 19, 21. Hydraulic fluid is supplied to the cushion 20 via the prop 14, 12 and also to an advancing jack 3 pivoted to the trough 2 and a conveyer 7.
