Abstract

814,049. Resilient mountings. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. April 1, 1957 [July 5, 1956], No. 10535/57. Class 108(3) A resilient mounting comprises resilient material 16 filling the space between, and bonded to, an inner sleeve 11 and an outer sleeve 10 having a part-spherical external surface, the respective external and internal surfaces of the sleeves 11, 10 being defined by screw threads of rounded crosssectional contour. As shown, applied to the mounting of an aircraft engine 23 on a supporting structure 18, the part-spherical outer surface of the sleeve 10 fits in a correspondingly shaped recess of the structure 18. A spigot 20 secured to the engine 23 engages the bore of the inner sleeve 11. A clearance 37 between the end face of the trunion 20 and an abutment flange 36 rigid with the sleeve 11, permits thermal expansion. Radial slots 31 and 32 are formed in the outer and inner members 10, 11 to serve as a means for correctly aligning the sleeves during the injection of the rubber 16 in a moulding machine. The tips of the threads of the inner and outer sleeves 11, 10, are notched to facilitate flow of the rubber into the mount.
