Abstract
Moulds for casting (see Group XXII) are coated with resin. The resin composition comprises (i) benzene, styrene (monomer), an unsaturated polyester resin, a catalyst and an accelerator, or (ii) styrene (monomer), an unsaturated polyester resin and a catalyst. In each case, the catalyst is a paste of cyclohexanone peroxide and tricresyl phosphate. The accelerator is a saturated solution of cobalt naphthenate in white spirit. The unsaturated polyester resin is obtained by reacting a polyhydric alcohol such as ethylene glycol, or glycerol, with an unsaturated organic acid, such as maleic acid, or with an unsaturated organic anhydride such as maleic anhydride. A further composition comprises (iii) an unsaturated polyester resin together with methyl methacrylate, styrene, and tert.-butyl per-benzoate. Specification 770,527, [Group XXII], is referred to.
