Abstract

813,721. Lamps. STROM, E. April 16, 1956 [April 15, 1955], No. 11527/56. Classes 75(2) and 75(4) [Also in Group XIV] Lighting equipment comprises a source of light disposed at one focal point B1, Fig. 3, of an ellipsoidal reflector 17 and secured in a socket 18 movable along the major axis of the reflector, and a glass 23 covering the light opening of the reflector and formed with parallel vertical flutes adapted to refract the light rays to form an elongated area of light at the second focal point B2 of the reflector. The equipment is particularly for use by dentists, the elongated area of light being intended to illuminate a patient's mouth. The socket 18 is displaceably mounted in a bushing 19 in the centre of the reflector. The source of light is a frosted filament lamp 20. A small anti-dazzle shade 21 is mounted on a rod 22 secured centrally to the glass 23. The latter is uniformly spaced from the edge of the reflector to provide ventilation. The reflector is mounted on trunnions 16 in a yoke 15 pivotally mounted on a vertical pintle 14 on a forked bracket 13 connected to another forked bracket 5 by two parallel tubular links 6, 7 articulated to both the forked brackets 5, 13. The second forked bracket 5 is pivoted to an arm 3 having a downturned end journalled in a housing 2 on a wall 1. A compression spring 9 within the tubular link 6 urges a roller 11 on a member 10, slidable on the link 6, firmly against cam tracks 12 on the second forked bracket 5.
