Vehicle lamps; lantern screens.-In a vehicle lamp in which a screening member is disposed within the lamp casing centrally in front of the electric lamp bulb, one or more balls or other screening members having concave, conical, or like surfaces directed towards the inner ends of the main reflector are also disposed in front of the electric bulb but between the central screen. ing member and the main reflector so as to intercept and diffuse forwardly some of the direct and reflected rays of light. The central screening, member may be in the form of an amber or other coloured lens, a ball similar to the smaller laterally disposed balls 6, 7, or a spherical member 1 provided with a cylindrical opening 3 which is closed at its ends by lenses 4, 5. The latter may be of amber colour for use in fog, or one of them may be replaced by a piece of coloured glass. The balls 6, 7 and the spherical member 1 and its cylindrical surface 3 may be plated or polished to act as reflectors. In the form shown in Fig. 8 the central screening member comprises a part 8<a> fitted with lenses or pieces of coloured glass 9 and mounted inside a casing 10 which is rotatable so that it can be turned at will to cover the lenses or pieces of glass. The central and lateral screening members may be carried by a rod or tube 8 which may be made telescopic to provide for vertical adjustment of the screening members.
