Abstract
813,292. Magnetic relays. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Dec. 28, 1956 (Dec. 28, 1955], No. 39557/56. Class 38 (5). A sealed relay, Fig. 1a, comprises a magnetic reed contact 4 normally engaging a partly magnetic or non-magnetic rigid contact 3 and movable, upon application of an external magnetic field, to engage a magnetic contact 2. The contact 2 is made somewhat resilient so that should the reed 4 be stuck to the contact 3 when the field is applied, the contact 2 deflects towards the reed to reduce the air gap and increase the magnetic force tendency to remove the reed from the contact 3. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the member 2 does not extend outside the envelope 1 and function as a contact whereby a, simple normally-closed switch is formed. In a further example of change-over relay, Fig. 4, the rigid contact 6, reed contact 7 and the somewhat resilient contact 8 are all magnetic, application of the magnetic field causing the reed to leave contact 6 and engage contact 8.
