Abstract
<PICT:0812804/III/1> In the type of solar still which comprises an outer transparent waterproof shell inflatable into substantially a spherical shape containing an absorbent fabric bag and a salt-water feed reservoir at the top of the shell, the reservoir is provided with a stopper having an air duct which leads to the interior of the shell. The part of the air duct in the stopper may be associated with a non-return valve which is weakly loaded to yield to air pressure from the still through the stopper. In a preferred embodiment, the still has an outer shell 1 of polythene and an absorbent bag 2 which is made from light-weight flexible dark fabric. At the top of the outer casing is attached a salt-water feed reservoir 5 terminating inside the bag in a trickle-feed nozzle 6. The stopper 7 which is made of indiarubber or a suitable plastic substance has an axial air passage 9, the bottom of which is closed by a non-return valve 10. The passage 9 is connected to a flexible tube 11 which leads to an opening 12 in the top of shell 1. Specification 788,753 is referred to.
