Abstract
812,241. Casting-machines. DOW CHEMICAL CO. June 14, 1957 [June 18, 1956, Nov. 2, 1956], No. 18867/57. Class 83 (1). [Also in Group XXVI] In a die-casing machine, particularly for casting magnesium alloys, a shot-well liner 46, preferably of a chromium-cobalt-tungsten alloy, is clamped against a gasket 60 of said alloy in the shot-well 16 by readily detachable clamping means 66. SO 2 may be supplied through an inlet 80 to protect metal which by-passes the piston 84, and a hood 26 shileds the shot-well inlet-aperture 24 to prevent particles of flux from the melt cover 92 descending the shotwell wall 28 and entering the shot-well.
