811,608. Hatch-covers. KOCKUMS MEKANISKA VERKSTADS A.B. April 8, 1957 [April 26, 1956], No. 11358/57. Class 113. A hydraulic opener for hinged hatch covers comprises a support 7, a pulling link 5 hingedly connected at 6 to the hatch cover and at 12 to the support 7 and composed of two overlapping parts adjustable in length by the displacement of said parts in relation to each other and a hydraulic jack interposed between the overlapping ends of said link parts to shorten the pulling link by its expanding movement. The pulling link 5 may comprise a box 8 containing the hydraulic jack whose plunger carries a yoke 15 projecting through slots 16 in the side of the box and two pull rods 11 pivotally connected to the support 7 and to the yoke 15. The hinge support for the cover parts 1 and 2, may comprise a pair of toothed segments 18 engaging a row of pins 19 and the bottom of the box 8 may be in the form of a curve which engages a roller 10 to maintain the yoke 15 in the same plane as the pivots 6 and 12. Ramps 20 are provided on the coaming 3 to assist the closing movement and securing arrangements may be provided to retain the cover in the open position.
