Abstract

810,334. Sliding-door fasteners. WEINER, L. L. Nov. 1, 1956, No. 33401/56. Class 44 A slider for a sliding clasp fastener comprises two parallel plates 8, 10, rigidly connected by a wedge 12, and a member 16 associated with one plate 10 and having flanges 18 directed towards the other plate 8, there being spaces between the flange edges and the other plate forming guide slots for the fastener stringer tapes, the flanges being resiliently movable to increase the spaces. As described, the member 16 has a raised centre portion 22 and a slot 24 formed therein to accommodate a lug 26 integral with the top plate 10. A puller 30, attached to the lug, depresses the centre portion 22 of the member 16 which is thus resiliently secured to the plate 10, and the flanges 18 being movable relative to the slider enables material caught in the slider to be released and prevents jamming. The puller may be provided with a locking tooth and may be urged by cammed trunnions into the locked position. In another embodiment, Fig. 8 (not shown), the resilient flanges are mounted on the bottom plate of the slider. In a further embodiment, Fig. 12 (not shown), the top and bottom plates are both provided with resilient flanges.
