Abstract
810,085. Feeding webs. SUN PRINTERS Ltd. Dec. 5, 1957 [Nov. 6, 1956] No. 33870/56. Class 100(1) A turner bar 5 is mounted alternatively between diagonally opposed pairs 3, 4 of a set of four pillars 3, 3, 4, 4 arranged at the corners of a square and carried on a single rectangular chassis 1 slidably mounted on a pair of parallel guide rods 2. The turner bar 5 is secured at each end to the pillars 3, 4 by a bolt 6 engaging a threaded bore in the bar. When the bar is removed each pillar can be rotated through 180 degrees so that the bar may be secured on the opposite side of a line connecting the axes of the pillars. Thus, the bar has four alternative positions in which the bar is disposed at an angle of 45 degrees to the rods 2. Compressed air, to reduce friction between the bar and a web passing thereover, is supplied to the bar through the bars 2, sleeves 7 and 8 on the chassis, passages 9, and the pillars 4. Guide rollers 10 are alternatively mounted in upper positions 11 or lower positions 12. In the upper position, the bottom of the roller is level with the bottom of the turner bar, while in the lower position the top of the roller is level with the bottom of the bar. A plurality of chassis 1 carrying turner bars may be mounted on the pair of guide rods 2 or further rods parallel thereto.
