Abstract

827,432. Printing. STALWART MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. Dec. 12, 1957, No. 38584/57. Class 100(2) Pile fabric O in web form is printed or dyed by passing it between an impression roller Q and a driven printing roller A, the latter having a felt covering B and being partially immersed in a dye reservoir E. The reservoir. E can be adjusted vertically by manually-operable rack and pinion gearing L, M, is supplied with dye from a pipe G, and has an overflow at each end thereof from which the surplus dye is collected by pipes leading to a tank communicating with the source of dye supply. As shown, a second printing roller A' co-operates with the impression roller Q to print a second colour on the same side of the fabric. In a modification, printing rollers may be arranged on opposite sides of the fabric. The felt coverings B of the printing rollers are cut away to provide patterns. The apparatus may be used for the simultaneous printing of several superimposed webs of fabric.
