Abstract

809,617. Hydraulic transmissions. DAIM. LER-BENZ A.G. Aug. 14,1956 [Aug. 16, 1955], No. 24847/56. Class 69 (2). An hydrostatic transmission comprises a pump P and a motor M each having a rotatable and tiltable cylinder block with axial cylinders containing pistons co-operating with a driving or driven disc 19 or 31. The cylinder blocks are mounted in non-rotatable housings 24, 26 tiltable about axes A, B. As shown the pump and motor are hydraulically interconnected by telescopic links pivotally mounted on the housings 24, 26, and the tendency of the telescopic parts 46, 48 of a link to separate under internal pressure is counteracted by means of pistons 61, 62 connected to the part 46 and working in cylinders connected to the corresponding part 48 and with the working space open to the interior of the link. In a modification the tendency for the links to expand is counteracted by a piston and cylinder pivoted to the pump and motor housings. In another embodiment the telescopic links are replaced by pivoted links, one part of each link being formed with a portion bent at right angles which serves as a pivot for the other part of the link. The pump and motor input and output shafts are geared to driving and driven shafts which can be interconnected by a mechanical clutch.
